Monsters On Attack! - Round 3

***Robert Porter <sleestak2@juno.com>***

...but was blocked by fallen debris. Desperate to get away from the leviathans, she ran and ran until she found a place to hide between the wall of a building and an overturned slab of concrete. She hoped they didn't see where she hidden herself. Turning, she looked up at her savior--

It was King Kong. Or rather, another King Kong. Two identical creatures stood and bellowed at each other. How could there be two of them?

Then she noticed that the first one was wincing in pain at the torture of the electrical surges it was feeling. And she noticed the bits of metal showing beneath its torn flesh. It all made sense, now.

She understood why her psychic touch with the creature had revealed such pain that it was hard to connect. It was a mechanical version of King Kong, wired to a real King Kong brain!

Psychically, she reached out to the "real" Kong's mind. She sensed confusion and a great fear for its adversary. The creature was basically gentle, but it had been thrust into a precarious and dangerous situation. And it was aware of her in her hiding place. It wanted... to protect her.

Next, she reached out to the mechanical Kong. Again, the mind was tortured by pain and electrical surges, such that it was difficult to maintain control. But she persevered. She heard its mind scream for her. It was still wanting her. It had a strong desire to have her for itself. The thoughts engulfed its mind and coalesced into an intense hatred for its doppelganger... and... the creatures who had done what they had done to its body. Miki got excited. Somehow, she knew that finding that information could be a key to solving many of their problems and the battle of monsters that was now raging on Earth. She probed deeper--

A pain inducing electrical burst kicked her out of the mechanical Kong's mind, causing her to fall back in pain as she too felt the burst. Fighting back a wave of nausea, she shakily stood and looked toward the creatures. She was afraid to touch it's mind again just yet.

Suddenly, the mechanical Kong let out a massive roar and slammed a fist into the nearest building, shattering it in a cloud of glass, steel and concrete. It lunged forward at Kong and shoved hard, pushing it back onto its rump and creating a massive hole in the ground where it landed. With lightning swiftness, the mechanical Kong turned toward Miki and reached for her within her hiding place. Miki screamed.

Before the giant black hand could reach her, Kong stood, grabbed the Kong imposter by it's shoulder, and yanked it away from Miki. Not only did it prevent the robot from reaching Miki, but it also tore away a layer of fake fur that had covered the mechanical hide. It now stood with an arm and part of its chest exposed for the metallic parts they really were.

Electrical surges arced across the mechanical Kong's body. It writhed in agony and pounded its fists into the ground in its fury. It slumped to the ground and sat upon it's haunches. For a moment, it stood motionless, appearing to have exhausted its energy, although the surges of electricity continued to move across its body.

Kong grunted at the imposter, as if daring it to attack. When he got no reaction, he stepped forward, bared his teeth, and roared into its face. Still, no reaction.

Miki sensed that it might be overloading. She again reached out her mind. Through a haze of pain, she still sensed its overwhelming desire for her. She probed further and sensed... deception.

Because there was still no reaction, Kong finally slammed a fist into the exposed, metallic shoulder of the mechanical Kong--

The next happened all at once. The mechanical Kong came alive and launched itself at its adversary. The two tumbled across the city streets with the imposter Kong's now exposed metallic jaw locked onto the real Kong's neck, causing blood to gush forward. At the same time, the supercharge of electricity in the robot's brain slammed into Miki's mind touch. She felt a searing pain behind her eyes, fell back against the building's wall, and slumped over in unconsciousness.

The two King Kong leviathans wrestled in the street, in the process, destroying many years and billions of dollars worth of human property.

Minya cried out in pain. He had tried to crawl away from the melee that was occurring, but he had been noticed by Orga II, the abomination created from the dying Ghidorah. The evil, Millennian monster reached out a tentacle for Minya and pulled him back into the fray.

Squealing, Minya closed his eyes and considered giving up on life. Godzilla was no where to be found and all these creatures would not leave him in peace. He knew his life would end if it continued like this. Orga II used the Ghidorah like head to rake the smaller monster with electrical beams while the powerful tentacle repeatedly slammed him against the hard ground. Blood gushed forward from Minya's severed belly.

Zigan appeared. With a new lease on life as a morphed Zigra and Gigan creature and free from the Millennians' mind control, he was ready to kick some alien butt. He slammed his body into Orga II, while firing a beam that severed the tentacle that was torturing the tiny Minya.

The severed tentacle writhed uselessly for a moment, before finally stopping all movement. Although his escape route was now open, Minya remained unmoving and his eyes remained open and unfocused. Zigan feared he was finally dead. Zigan and Orga II clashed.

Meanwhile, Angurion was holding Hedorah at bay and preventing further injury to Gamera. Despite Hedorah's attempts at dissolving Angurion with it's putrid sludge, Angurion's armored plates were proving to be resistance to the acidic threat. Only Angurion's softer belly was threatened. As a result, they were locked in an intricate dance where Hedorah tried to reach Angurion's belly and Angurion tried to keep his armored back to Hedorah.

Irys stood by and did nothing. Because it was being controlled by the Millennians, it knew what was happening. It was content to let the Earth born monsters and various space monsters destroy each other. The survivors would exhaust themselves and the Millennians would be able to easily take over this water rich world.

Gamera's remarkable recovery abilities helped him survive while Hedorah and Angurion battled. Drawing on his reserve of strength, much gleaned from the children from earlier in the day, Gamera stood. He drew upon himself and the Earth around him, such that a fury burned in his belly, coalescing as a glow from his open mouth. It was time to destroy the Hedorah threat.

Seeing Gamera's recovery, Angurion knew what to do. He turned and exposed his vulnerable belly to Hedorah.

Seizing the opportunity, Hedorah charged at the target presented to it. It slammed itself against into Angurion and oozed deadly slime to eat away at the soft flesh.

Angurion cried out in pain, but held fast. His innards screamed as if a thousand tiny knives were carving into his belly. Enduring the pain, he turned the now preoccupied Hedorah toward the waiting Gamera.

Gamera unleashed the fireball in a fury so extreme that he was pushed back and onto his back. The fireball, electrified with energy, slammed into Hedorah.

The resulting explosion of fire, electricity, sludge and flesh created an acrid cloud of debris.

Irys watched with interest. When the debris cloud finally dispersed, Angurion lay injured and exhausted, but slowly recovering. Hedorah was dead, with dried bits of sludge scattered about. *Good,* the Millennian mind control inside Irys thought. This is working out better than they had expected.

Orga II now turned it's attention on Zigan. The Zigra creature was in control of the newly transformed Zigan creature. The Millennians knew that mind, as they had been in control of it just moments before.

Zigan attacked, using a hooked fin to grab at one of the Ghidorah-like long necks of the Orga II monster. It yanked hard, pulling Orga II down onto its belly. The wings were exposed and Zigan was about to attack them, trying to tear them off before it could fly away.

But Orga II had other plans. It wrapped its neck around Zigan and opened it's mouth to take in Zigan's head. The Millennians now turned their efforts to reaching the Zigra mind within Zigan. Slowly, they found the core of the brain for which they search. Touching the switch they knew, Zigra-- or now Zigan, was suddenly back in their control.

Orga II and Zigan unwrapped their bodies. They were on the same side again. They turned their attention upon the recovering Angurion and Gamera.

Irys was pleased. Things were working out very well, indeed.

A screech pierced the air and a tornado like wind blasted the group of monsters. Looking up, they saw another Earth Defender, Rodan, had arrived. Irys knew the battle wasn't quite over yet.

The ground in front of Irys exploded with radio-active fire. The newly recovered Godzilla had arrived and was ready to defend the Earth from these invaders.

Then Godzilla spotted the motionless body of Minya at Orga II's feet and a furious fire burned within him, causing his body to sparkle with radio-activity.

Mothra awoke from her transformation. Something was wrong. She had not remembered weaving the cocoon for her transformation. There were parts of her memory missing. She recalled a quiet, peaceful existence on Infant Island, when something dark and sinister had overshadowed her home. An evil had come upon them and... that was all she could remember.

She tried to unfurl her wings, but encountered resistance. The cocoon would not break as it should. She used her sensitive antennae to examining the cocoon and discovered to her horror that she wasn't in a cocoon, but a prison! She couldn't break free!

* * *

General Tanaka himself wanted to oversee the use of the device found in the debris of young Yoshinori Iko's home. The child had said that he was the only one who could use it, and he didn't want to take any chances. Yoshi had shown wisdom beyond his years.

Together, they were on a military helicopter heading toward the battling monsters.

"Oh my God!" his aide shouted from the front seat.

That didn't sound good. Tanaka reached forward and pulled on his aide's shoulder. "What is it?"

The aide listened closely on his earphones and nodded sharply in acknowledgement before replying. "Godzilla's arrived! And there are reports of Manda and Gorosaurus on the way as well. And Rodan. He's there too!"

"My God! It's Monsters On Attack!"

Yoshi tugged on Tanaka's sleeve. "Don't worry, General."

"Don't worry!?"

"Everything'll work out. You'll see."

Tanaka was incredulous. Perhaps he'd given the kid too much credit. He suddenly had his doubts about him and the device. "How can you be so sure? Look at the damage they've already caused."

"I don't know, General. But you have to have faith. That's what my mom always says." Yoshi looked out the window, assured that everything would be okay as he'd said.

Tanaka reached toward his pocket and stroked the mysterious device that was to be their salvation. It seemed like too thin of a hope.

Unexpectedly, he pulled his hand away. The device was hot! Gingerly, he pulled it out of his pocket and noticed it emanated a faint glow.

Yoshi gasped and pointed out the window. "Look!"

They all followed his finger. Below, they saw King Kong and a robot version of the gorilla locked in battle...

***Gertrude Smith <gsraptor@arkansas.net>***

Yoshi grabbed the object and leaped from the helicopter, diving head first over the door's safety strap. He became disoriented in his freefall but quickly spread his arms and legs to somewhat stabilize his plunge toward the earth. In his right hand, he still clutched the mysterious device his mother had hidden from him and the world. Pushing the single button on its side, he was immediately enveloped in a nimbus of light which became a tunnel, guiding him along. The aircraft he had exited shook violently in the sonic boom of his rapid departure.

Flying alongside him was a strange yet familiar, large-eyed red and silver being who simply nodded in acknowledgment when Yoshi exclaimed, "You're Ultraman 80!!!" They flew along, soon coming to the Land of Light in Nebula M78. Ultraman, Ultra Mother, Taro, Leo, Seven, Ace and other heroes awaited him as they entered the crystalline Grand Hall. "It's like a dream," Yoshi thought to himself, staring at the amazing place and its inhabitants, who he had so admired on television. The cartoon he saw reminded him of the Mini Mini featurettes he had seen starring the famous Ultra heroes. "I KNEW it was a Beta Capsule!" he shouted out loud. His excitement was soon interrupted by a telepathic message from Ultra Father.

"Earth is about to face great dangers, Yoshi. Thirty million years ago, we also lived on Earth and our civilization was threatened by monsters. Three Ultra-warriors arrived to fight them. They were creatures of light so they fashioned bodies from the rocks and soil to fight the monsters until Gidzera appeared and took control of the humans. These Ultra-guardians could not remain there if the humans didn't want them to. Before they left, they implanted into the DNA of all humans the ability to transform into light themselves. Now, only certain individuals have this ability." Yoshi soon realized what the great being was trying to tell him.

"Why me?" He wondered if he had done the right thing, taking the Beta Capsule and using it so brashly. "I'm not an Ultra by any means..." Yoshi humbly admitted.

Ultraman 80, a teacher in his human guise, once again offered guidance to the youngster who stood before him, clad in the silver and red of an Ultra Warrior. Yoshi was soon comfortable in his new form, in heart and knowledge feeling what the Ultras felt and knowing what they knew. "The Beta Capsule is an ancient mechanism that can store light energy, our 'essence'. When released, it can transform a descendant from the people of the ancient civilization into Ultra beings. As such, you will confront many obstacles, both mentally and physically. It is not only a fight between giants, but a fight between good hearts and evil. The Millennians have returned but you must have understanding and compassion; only then will the true threat of monsters be extinguished."

When 80 was finished, Yoshinori felt drained of his youthful vitality. "Mother," he thought as Ultraman Taro approached him.

"Do not blame her for your heritage. If anyone, blame the Millennians." Again, Yoshi did not understand. Ultra Mother quickly stepped in.

"When the Xians first arrived on Earth in 1965, they kidnapped your mother as a young child. She was later returned to serve as a look-out for future invasions by the Millennians. Somehow, they came into possession of a Beta Capsule but could only use it as a jamming device against hostile monsters." Sensing his questions, she gently touched his shoulder. "Do not fret. She can be very proud of her brave son. Adults despair but children pray for Gamera to return and save the day. When you went to him, something special touched his very soul. He also drew upon your light as Daigo did to create Tiga." Yoshi well remembered the inspiring scene from one of his favorite Ultra movies. "The children's essences flow into Gamera, changing the darkness into Light! The time of monsters has arrived again. You must be Light!" Yoshi realized how true this was.

"The monsters will defend the Earth but not people. Their homes will be destroyed by them and many people will die or be badly hurt. It's so sad that we live in their world..." Yoshi bowed his head before the Ultra beings.

Understanding his concern, the dark being Ultraman Agul advised him next, "I once felt the cause of Earth's destruction would be mankind but I was wrong. There are greater evils out there, like the Millennians who would destroy our (and your) proud heritage. With Gaia, I fought a giant swarm of creatures that completely blocked out the sun. They formed into three great monsters, battling us almost to exhaustion. Then the Entity of the Root Destruction itself appeared and defeated the monsters but also sought to extract our essences. We were rescued by our human friends as various Earth monsters appeared to fight off the alien invasion, but to no avail. These monsters also have power and energy themselves and re-energized us to become Ultramen one more time and make the Earth safe. Remember, we are from Earth also."

"Yes," Yoshi assured him, "the monsters are there and some fight for good, not evil. Like Gamera and Mothra and even Godzilla. He is good."

Tiga agreed. "Yes, he also has the Light."

Ultra Mother placed an elaborate collar over Yoshi's shoulders, similar to Ultra Seven's. "No Ultra can survive on Earth indefinitely but you will be able to draw energy from the sun." Taro also had a gift for him and placed a triangular shield on his chest.

"With this, you will be able to channel the life-forces of your fellow humans. They will give you the strength to strive for maturity and wisdom. Only then will you become a true Ultraman. Always listen for our voices, for we will guide you." Taro stepped back and Yoshi returned to Earth only a moment after he left, streaking across the sky as Ultraman Delta. Ahead of him, he saw two King Kongs fighting but one was not the true King. Delta fired a paralyzing ray before the metal giant could seriously debilitate his opponent. The monster eased its grip on King Kong's neck and settled to its haunches like a puppet whose strings had been cut. Delta swooped in and grabbed it around the waist, heading for the Monster Graveyard.

Miki stirred as a heavy but gentle weight stroked her back. Opening her eyes, she beheld Kong with his huge hand extended toward her.

***John C Barthelette <kingGhidorah@juno.com>***

Slowly she tried to use her psychics influence to tame Kong but he was too swift. The contact broke as she began to scream....

From the Darkness an orbiting satellite focused on the area where Angurion, Minya, Irys, Gamera and Hedorah were battling. It began to emit a strange glowing darkness...

The Leader of the Aliens from planet X gasped at what he saw on the ship's screen. "No! If they use that weapon the world will be doomed!"

A Millennium ship emerged from the secret black hole near Pluto. It began to head for Earth at near light speed...

A subordinate officer on the Xians ship suddenly spoke "Sir. We have found where the Millennian presence is located."

The beam of darkness from the orbiting satellite expanded and began to shoot towards Earth...

The Millennian Ship arrived near the satellite and began to circle it...

The Leader of the Xians suddenly ordered the ship to attack the Millennians...

The beam of darkness shot on the ground the monsters were fighting. It began to form a black hole and suck the monsters into it... Suddenly instead of the monsters being sucked in a creature emerged. No not one creature but many... The black hole had opened the gate to the Meganuron's dimension. Thousands of the space insects began to pour through the black hole. The monsters were suddenly overwhelmed by the onslaught...

***Stefan Criswell <criswell@mosquitonet.com>***

The Millennians believed that the Meganurons would give them an easy victory. They were wrong. All of the monsters in the battlefield were being attacked, but the Meganurons seemed to have more interest in attacking Orga II. The Millennian/Ghidorah hybrid not only struggled to fight off the swarm, but it struggled to keep it's control over Zigan. Having just regained control over the monster, the Millennians did not want to lose him again. Zigra alone seemed helpless to break the alien's control. But then, a voice in his head spoke "We must break free of their control. I spent most of my life under the control of the Nebulans, and I have no intentions of being controlled by the Millennians." It was Gigan's voice Zigra heard in his head. He really was still alive! Together, the two minds began to pull away from the forces that controlled them. Alone, they would have been helpless to do anything about it, but together, they had a chance.

Godzilla was angered by the Meganuron swarm. 'Too many foes' he thought to himself, 'this has got to end!'. The monster king powered up his nuclear pulse and fried all of the Meganurons closest to him. Then, he eyed Orga II, who was struggling to keep his hold on Zigan. Godzilla sensed that this monster was responsible for all that had been going on. Godzilla charged Orga II and slammed him into the ground. With this, Zigan was freed. The Zigra/Gigan hybrid glared at Godzilla. Gigan and Zigra both recognized Godzilla as a foe, but they also realized that they may need his help.

Meanwhile, in a far off place, Rodan was feeling hunger pains. He needed to find food, but all of the insects he enjoyed eating so much were gone. Then, he sensed them. Somehow, the Meganurons had returned! Rodan flew off, prepared to have a feast...

Captain Mano brushed sweat from his forehead as he carefully climbed over the pile of loose rubble in the mouth of the cave. His platoon had been sent here to sweep Infant Island and investigate the damage Miki Seagusa had reported, but so far, they had only confirmed everything she had already described. The terrain was utterly devastated, as if some monumental battle had raged across the island from shore to shore, leaving nothing but smoking craters and scorched soil in its wake. Mano had been about to grudgingly admit there was nothing more to report when one of his sergeants discovered something extraordinary along the northeastern shoreline.

"Right this way, Sir," the sergeant said as he led Mano deeper into the cave. They were descending down a rough slope through a passageway that must have been at least 80 meters in diameter. The cave had been part of a network of tunnels radiating outward from the vast central cavern which had served as a lair for countless generations of the mythical monster Mothra. Now the cavern and most of the tunnels had collapsed during the recent cataclysm, leaving only a few passageways like this one intact.

As Mano reached the bottom of the slope, the object finally came into view. An enormous ovoid sack, its leathery surface glistening in the traces of sunlight filtered through the mist, filled the entire width of the tunnel.

"What do you make of this, Sir?" the sergeant asked, staring at the massive shape in awe.

Mano immediately recognized the object. "It's a cocoon," he replied. "Mothra's cocoon." For the first time in the past several hours, Mano glimpsed a faint glimmer of hope. If the cocoon had not been destroyed, maybe Mothra was still alive. Perhaps there was still hope of uniting the monsters against the alien assault. But Mothra's cooperation and the success of the entire desperate plan still depended on two people. Indeed, the fate of the whole world could well rest in two tiny pairs of hand. Mano knew that the most important question still remained unanswered.

Where were the Cosmos?

Laura was awakened from a deep, dreamless sleep by a soft brush against her cheek. She moaned and rolled her head to the side. Though still only half conscious, her first concern was, as always, the safety of her identical twin. "Moll..." she whispered in a hoarse voice.

With considerable effort she forced her heavy eye lids open and was greeted by the sight of Fairy Mothra, who was gently stroking her face with one of its antennae. Then she saw Moll, lying near her and just beginning to stir. Laura tried to stand, but immediately slipped on the smooth surface, landing on her knees. As her head cleared, she tilted her head and for the first time, examined her strange surroundings.

Laura, Moll, and Fairy appeared to be trapped in the inside of a metallic, spherical bubble. The silvery, reflective surface of the chamber looked opaque and solid, but a dim light equal to dusk seemed to be penetrating the walls and there was oxygen to breathe in spite of the absence of any vents or ducts.

"Laura," Moll said softly, "Are you alright?"

"Yes, just a bit dizzy. How are you?"

"I've been better. What happened?"

"I don't know," Laura said weakly. "We were riding on Fairy near the cove when we heard that tremendous blast...." She broke off as the memories abruptly came flooding back. They had quickly returned to the cavern only to find their mighty defender Mothra pinned down by a net of twisting, serpentine tendrils that protruded from the bottom of the silver alien craft. Though Fairy couldn't have possibly helped Mothra against the much more powerful aggressor, the tiny creature had heroically rushed forward to challenge the invader. And then....

"The last thing I remember was being knocked out of the air by that shockwave," Moll said as she rubbed her aching head. "But where are we now?"

Laura touched the polished wall of the spherical prison. "That space ship-- it was iridescent silver, just like this room" she said. "You don't suppose we're somewhere inside the ship?"

"Well, where ever we are, we're not getting out," Moll said. "But maybe we can contact Mothra."

The two sisters placed their palms together and closed their eyes as they had done so many times over the years, projecting their psychic distress call into the void.

* * *

"Something's happening, Sir," the sergeant shouted as the cocoon suddenly began vibrating and rocking, shaking more debris from the already weakened tunnels walls.

"Fall back!" Mano called to his men, who were already running toward the sloping entrance. As the troops rushed from he mouth of the cave, a dry crackling sound like ripping fabric echoed down the corridor. A moment later, the walls gave way and tons of rock crashed down on and around the bulging, pulsing cocoon. Mano, who was the last man out, threw himself over the bank at the cave entrance and rolled face first onto the beach as boulders crashed down the slope where he had been standing a moment ago. He felt a thick cloud of dust and sand blow out of the collapsing tunnel and past his shoulders.

As he struggled to regain his footing, he heard a piercing, screeching sound behind and above him. He spun around in time to see the newly emerged Mothra rising slowly above the wreckage of the tunnel, shaking earth and stones from her majestic wings. But this was a different version of Mothra then he had ever seen before. Her body sparkled with a shimmering, metallic sheen, her wings were lined with blade-like scales, and a long, barbed stinger protruded from the end of her abdomen. Most frightening of all, her face was twisted into a sinister, hostile sneer.

Mothra stared down at the fleeing humans with a cold, uncaring gaze. With one flex of her vast wings, she knocked all the troops off their feet with an explosive gust of hurricane force wind. Then she turned, and without wasting another moment on these pitiful humans, soared away over the ocean. She had more important foes to conquer.

The sergeant crawled to his feet, rubbing sand out of his eyes. "Well, now at least we know Mothra's alive."

"That wasn't Mothra," Mano said grimly. "Not the Mothra we knew."

***Jason Vilon <jasonv@jarda.on.ca>***

Inside the Millennian ship the Twin Fairies looked at each other in utter shock!

In unison they sang, "Battra! Battra has returned to life."

"In the past," Laura mused, "Mothra has taken on Battra's responsibilities when Battra wasn't able. Now it looks like Mothra is in trouble, and Battra is going to try to complete her destiny."

"Yes," Moll agreed. "Battra has even tried to take on Mothra's shape in order to achieve his goal. But Battra is not kind and gentle like Mothra. Will he be able to accomplish what needs to be done?"

There was a pause, and then again in unison, "He will succeed."

Defense Secretary Okata and General Tanaka had made it back to the Control Center. There, the Chief and Fuji of the Science Patrol informed them of their findings.

"As you know, we've been monitoring the incoming fleet of Millennian ships." The Chief continued, "There's roughly 40 craft headed this way."

"Yes," Fuji agreed. "Much more then we had first calculated."

"When will they be here?" the General barked.

The two members of the Science Patrol looked at each other and then the General. The Chief said: "They're already here."

Like a scene taken from a bad Tim Burton film, 40 Millennian saucers streaked through space, just approaching the dark side of the moon and then speeding by it.

Ahead was the object of their desire. They tried to capture that blue ball once before and it slipped through their tentacles. It was not going to happen again.

When the Black Hole weapon was fired by the Millennian advanced attack ship, Ultraman Delta was on his way into the stratosphere with the cyborg King Kong. He immediately felt an imbalance in the earth's Light. Hesitating only for a moment to consider what to do, he carried Cyber Kong back to the earth. Stopping the Millennians has just become far more important then getting this creature to the Monster Graveyard.

Setting down not far from the Meganuron swarm he placed Kong down gently.

A sonic boom exploded above Ultraman as Rodan sped toward his feast of insects.

Ultraman Delta was about to take off when a voice touched his mind.

"Ultraman Delta," Tiga said. "Upon your transformation into an Ultra, you received several gifts. Ultraseven's Solar Plate, and Ultraman Taro's Color Timer. I also gave you a gift. An ability. You know what you must do."

Ultraman Delta nodded agreement to his invisible mentor. Then, in front of himself, he crossed his fisted hands at the wrists and then thrust both fist to either side of his body.

"CHEE-UT"

Instead of being colored red, blue and silver, now Ultraman Delta had changed color to be only blue and silver, much like Ultraman Tiga's "Sky Type". With his new found flight speed, he took to the air.

"SU-WATCH!"

With all of the Earth Defender monsters busy with the Meganurons, Orga II used the opportunity to slip away. Hot on his trail however was Zigan. Having broken the Millennian control through the combined might of Zigra and Gigan, Zigan was determined to destroy the creature that had helped enslave him.

So intent on his prey was he that he nearly tripped over the hulking mass of metal and fur. Rage filled the combined creature when he recognized the technology as Millennian.

"ANOTHER!!" he roared. "Like US!"

Again Zigan stepped forward and performed his forbidden ability. The organic parts of the cloned Kong changed to energy and merged with Zigan. Yet another physical change took place as his muscles grew in bulk, sleek black fur covered his arms and neck and a silver mane sprouted from his back. Electricity arced from his foreclaws and left the air smelling of ozone.

If Zigan wasn't enough to stop this Millennian race once and for all, perhaps King Zigan could!

Through the combined might of Supercharged Godzilla, Angurion, Rodan, Gamera and Ultraman Delta, the Meganuron threat was being turned back.

Rodan and Ultraman remained airborne, dispatching the insects with beak, claw, and specium beam. Gamera was spewing flame in all directions, occasionally using his fireball attack to dispatch a large number of the bugs at once. And then there was Godzilla.

Due to the bits of alien metal that had fused with his skin, Godzilla was finding that he could aim with his pulse attack! Intense red beams flew out from his body and vaporized the flying bugs. It was no substitute for his breath weapon, but it was more then enough for the insect swarm.

* * *

King Kong and Miki had come to an understanding. You don't try to control me, and I won't send out psychic feedback that burns your mind.It was working out.

Actually, Miki was amazed at the intelligence of the great ape. She had misjudged him, but now that she was simply using her psychic powers to communicate with the beast, everything was looking up.Currently the pair were headed towards the battlefield, and from Kong's shoulder, Miki could see the horrible massacre miles away.

In the distance, she caught a glimpse of a sparkling form. It was also heading towards the area of the dimensional rift. Miki made the same mistake that Captain Mano had, and she reached out with her mind to what she thought was Mothra. At first, it felt like Mothra, then all at once it became disgusting! She shook with revulsion and physically retched. Through tears that had welled up in her eyes she saw the Thing flying on mirrored wings. Just like it's mind, it's body resembled Mothra, but it was twisted and misshapen.

While she touched it's mind <shiver> she caught a glimpse of an objective. A purpose. She wondered if the Thing's plan would really work. Either way, she thought, they'd know in moments.

Kong gave a sarcastic snort to the idea.

Battra circled the area, telepathically communicating with the 5 Earth Defenders. He issued the commands and they all saw the bigger picture. It wasn't just about Hedora or the Meganuron or any of these other creatures, there was a fleet of Millennians in our upper atmosphere, and if they reached the earth, all was lost! Battra issued more commands and the monsters snapped into action.

Supercharged Godzilla, Gamera and Ultraman Delta formed a triangle with Battra in the center. Angurion and Rodan were positioned in front of the rift, holding off the Meganuron as best they could. Rodan had landed for this task, since it was about to become VERY dangerous to be airborne. Manna started to pour down on Gamera as he began to power up. The crackle of Godzilla's spikes could be heard as he did the same.

Ultraman Delta crossed his fists in front of him once again, but this time when he thrust them down to his sides, his coloring changed to RED and silver. This is his "Power Type".

"CHEE-UT!"

Battra started to hover between the three and then tilted up so that his back was to Godzilla and Gamera and his abdomen was to Ultraman.

Up above, the first fireball appeared in the sky. Then another and another, 40 in total. The Millennian ships had reached our atmosphere and were converging on the area of the dimensional rift.

Then it began.

Godzilla used his new Pulse at full force and directed it at Battra's left wing. Gamera's chest opened up and he blasted Battra's right wing. Miki gasped as she wondered if Battra was strong enough to take the massive forces being channeled into him. Amazingly, his wings were acting like giant solar panels, absorbing the energy of the two monsters. Battra's antennae and spiked stinger began to glow and then an energy stream shot our of them and right into the chest shield that Ultraman Delta had received from Taro.

Ultraman screamed in pain. Yoshi screamed in pain. He had never felt anything like this before! Agonizing. But he still had a job to do. Rising his right forearm above his head, and placing his left hand under his right elbow, he prepared to use Ultraseven's Wide Shot.

And wide it was. One mile in diameter, white energy shot into the sky from Ultraman's forearm. It raced into the air and through the oncoming ships. It passed them and continued on for thousands of miles into space. The beam actually came within miles of permanently damaging the moon.

The result on the armada was devastating. Ships popped like balloons and dropped in flames, crashing into the nearby town. It only lasted for three seconds, but it was enough. All but 3 of the ships were destroyed.

Their part being completed, Godzilla, Gamera, Battra and Ultraman, slumped to the ground, spent.

That left Rodan and Angurion alone amongst the Meganuron. The remaining Millennian creatures who had scattered when the rift opened were regrouping for attack. And the final 3 ships were also descending upon them.

King Kong finally parted with Miki and was charging to the rescue.

Baragon, Gorosaurus and Manda were still 15 minutes away, but it all might be over by then!

* * *

Several miles north, two creatures stared at each other in utter loathing.

Orga II and King Zigan were about to do battle!

***Mark J. Tannacore <mark@inetsolve.com>***

But something was wrong with King Zigan. He was still fighting the control of the Millennians, and the cyborg parts he cannibalized from the Borg Kong made it harder to do so. But he would not go down without a fight!

Orga II lashed out with intense graviton beams, that not only burned, but lived up to their gravity affecting moniker! King Zigan found he could no longer raise his right leg from the ground! The concentration of mechanical parts there was greater (percentage wise) than any other part in his body. Orga II charged and knocked King Zigan over, but his leg was still 'planted' in that position!

Two of the three remaining ships descended into the atmosphere, heading towards the monsters on attack.

King Zigan slashed at Orga II, opening a diagonal gash from his shoulder to his opposite thigh, but not a deep gash.

Orga II blasted King Zigan at point blank range, and showed that apparently his beams could decrease gravity as well as increase it! As King Zigan jetted into the air from the blasts, Orga II slammed him back into the battlefield!

King Zigan now realized that his only means of revenge... might mean his own demise.

The two Millennian ships hovered in behind Orga II, and put up a massive barrier shield, that repelled all attempts to pass by all the monsters except for King Zigan, who managed to dive close to Orga II before the repel shield went up. This he knew, would be his last ditch effort to rid the universe of this vile race. He would trade genocide (of his own race) for the genocide of their race. And there was only one being with enough power to do it.

With all of his grotesque heads sneered in a vicious grin, Orga II knew what to do. He wasn't going to be so merciful as to deal the deathblow to King Zigan, he was going to incorporate him into his mass!

In a fit of irony, the gash King Zigan caused opened wide to receive it's meal, but King Zigan leapt forward into it!

As the 'mouth' instinctively closed, and King Zigan's molecules were broken down and assimilated into the mass of Orga II, King Zigan knew he had no time to waste before he lost what was left of his own consciousness. He struck out sideways, causing the Millennian ships to lose their position and lose purchase of their repel barriers. Then, as the sentience that controlled Orga II nearly overtook him, King Zigan had one last conscious thought: Kill Minya. With a tremendous blast, Minya was scattered to the four winds!!!

Orga II regained control, but the Millennian ships were damaged, with Rodan seizing the opportunity to make at least one pay for disturbing his ancient 'treat'! He fired a uranium beam dead on into one ship, then flew after it, pushing it back, all the while pecking and clawing at it.

It fell apart in mid air.

Battra, still very, very weak, sensed the third and final ship in the upper atmosphere. Quickly and mercilessly, he plunged his stinger into Ultraman, absorbing all his remaining energy and jettisoned into the atmosphere!

Ultraman was now powerless, and reverted back into the young Yoshi, unconscious.

Orga II was now more powerful than ever before, and more hideous to boot! Kong, with Miki in his hand to prevent her from falling at his pace, reached in and grabbed Yoshi's motionless body (at Miki's psychic request), but leaving the strange device that had transformed him.

All the other kaiju had moved back, or rather were *pushed* back, as tremendous waves of energy coursed over and away from Godzilla's body, causing the very earth the shake and quake about him. A deep rumbling that would be recorded on Richter scales some 700 miles away began to stir from Godzilla's belly, as he seethed.

This alien had now done him a greater wrong than any before him, and it was time to pay the piper...
